Investment Review day 36 of 50: Amazon $AMZN

Amazon is a vast e-commerce and cloud computing company with expanding revenue streams in a variety of areas. Originally founded as an online bookstore, the company now leverages its marketplace platform to connect third-party sellers with consumers, offers subscription services, produces its own devices, and provides the massive cloud computing infrastructure that powers countless businesses through Amazon Web Services (AWS).

Amazon’s financials have been strong in recent years, with notable margin improvements driven by e-commerce cost reductions and profits from third-party seller services.

I only bought Amazon on one occasion (Aug 2009), but that was enough to set my portfolio up for life, and the stock has delivered a 54x return today.

My mistake was trimming though. This isn’t the same as Shopify, I didn’t sell for portfolio management reasons, I sold to buy a car! Twice! The proceeds helped me buy a BMW & a Tesla, but I kick myself in retrospect, as those cars probably cost me a lot more than I paid for them!

I’m putting my holdings under the microscope. Over the next 50 days I’ll break down my whole investment portfolio. Wins, losses, and the ‘why’ behind it all. And on day 50 I’m going to share my full portfolio so you can see how my strategies played out in the real world over the last twenty years and what we can all learn together. Follow along for the journey! #StockAnalysis #50daychallenge #AWS #cloud #ecommerce #portfoliomanagement
