Investment Review day 4 of 50: Airtel Africa $AARTY

Airtel Africa is a dominant player in sub-Saharan Africa’s telecom and mobile money sectors. A region that has low banking penetration but high mobile connectivity – a recipe for disruption.

Airtel holds significant market share across Africa, and their expansion into Nigeria (Africa’s largest economy) is proving to be a growth catalyst, as they can leverage their existing mobile subscriber base. It’s a long-term play on Africa’s rising economies with both risks and significant potential, but even though the company has prospered, solid results are undone by incredibly high inflation levels in several of the markes in which it operates.

I bought Airtel Africa in 2022 to increase my exposure to emerging markets stocks. Which overseas investments do you own?
